Brekke is an experienced hands-on educator, gardener, nature-lover and long-time EEAI member who is excited to be EEAI’s new Executive Director. With special interests in environmental and garden education, she has enjoyed working with various nature centers, cultural institutions, and non-profits over the years. Brekke loves helping people connect with nature and each other through food, which she currently does while volunteering with Slow Food Chicago and pursuing board certification in Holistic Nutrition. Brekke also has a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, a Master’s degree in Sustainable Food Systems and is certified in Permaculture Design. She lives in Chicago, and her hobbies include reading, swimming, growing as much of her own food as she can, and of course – playing outside.
